Office package finds a place on Web...Live!
Nothing interesting happening in my life....but lots happenning on technical arena...and my affair with web continues...
The latest is the MS Office Live, which Microsoft recently launched with much hype on Feb 15th.
No, this is not the new version of MS Office after Office 2003, but it is the office product on the web. This will help any one on the web to use Microsoft's highly popular product Office, which has become a part of our life and work.
Although Microsoft has launched its beta version now, which again is only open for US people to evaluate. gOffice, has been in this area for quite some time. Users can edit and create word docs, pdf docs, excels, presentation from this site. Very useful when you are faced with a situation where you need to update a doc, but available machine does not have MS Office installed (rare though).
Also google, who is on a huge high now-a-days, having been valued as a $100bn company, trying to do all sort of things could not stay behind. They launched google pages, a site to build your own web pages. It gives a whooping 100 mb storage where you can create and edit your page through a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) tool more on the lines of MS Front Page.
This as tech gurus say, will feature in Google's take on Office Live, which again will be a web version for office package.
All these products are based on the technology that I discussed on my last post, Web 2.0, Ajax.
Its good to see such new creations making web more and more interesting...and ya happenning.
